Trujillo is a coastal and northern city, known as the “Eternal Spring City”, due to its warm and nice climate which is maintained the whole year. It’s located not far from Chan Chan, capital of the Chimú nation. Close to the city you can find numerous historical wonders and archaeological centers, legacy of more than 12 thousand years of antiquity, left by the main people that inhabited the region. The historic center of Trujillo is placed inside the area that was fortified during the colonial period, and that’s why some constructions are still preserved; among them, some stand out: the Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the Monastery El Carmen.
Tumbes is located close to the mouth of the Tumbes river, on the Guayaquil gulf, not far from the border with Ecuador. Due to its location, Tumbes has a semi-tropical climate, sunny most of the year. Tumbes has a beautiful littoral, composed mostly by a high diversity of ecosystems, among the ones are the mangroves and the tropical wood of the Pacific. It’s the perfect area for practicing nautical sports and eco-tourism. Inside the city, the main tourist attractions are the breakwater, the main square and the Plazuela Bolognesi.
